I am a former Mental Health Nurse with over 30 years experience working within the National Health Service. I have also served 4 years with the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps prior to my NHS work.
For the past 19 years I have been employed as a Supervisory Counsellor/Psychotherapist with the NHS working in Occupational Health, Primary Care and a Prison setting. I continue to work with Veterans.
My position within the NHS currently lies within the Adult Mental Health Services Department as a part-time Supervisory Clinician, offering comprehensive mental health and risk assessments. I also offer psychotherapy and counselling services privately, providing both short-term and long-term therapy.
I have a special interest in Forensics, Prevention of Suicide, Risk assessment and Relational and Attachment issues. I have also worked extensively with Childhood Sexual Abuse and Trauma.
I have successfully completed Year 1 of the Diploma in Cognitive Analytic Therapy and I am able to integrate these skills into my current practice. I receive regular clinical supervision adhering to the BACP Code of Essex through both the NHS and privately.
I am also interested in Nutrition and Exercise as part of a treatment package for Depression and Anxiety and am keen to develop this aspect of my work.
I liase with other Health Professionals where appropriate including GPs , Psychologists and Psychiatrists and I am able to make referrals if required.
